Project Mulberry is about a Korean girl nicknamed Jules by her best friend Patrick.  They both go to school together and they’re both in a club called the Wiggle Club.  The leader of the club, Mr. Maxwell, assigns an animal project.  You have to raise a live animal! 

Patrick and Jules can’t think of anything they want to do or something that can fit in their apartments.  Then Jule’s mom suggests silkworms.  Her mom raised them in Korea.  Jules doesn’t want to do the project but doesn’t say anything to Patrick because he is really excited about it. 

Read the book to find out if they will follow through with the project.

Julia and Patrick need to come up with a project for the Wiggle Club.  The Wiggle Club is a club that you do projects and they want to do one on animals. 

They can’t decide what to do until Julia’s mom comes up with a project on growing silkworms.  Julia doesn’t like the idea but Patrick wants to do it. 

Will Julia tell Patrick she doesn’t want to do it or will it just end up a mess?  You’ll have to read Project Mulberry to find out.

Young Julia and her friend Patrick want to create a project for the WIGGLE club but they can’t figure out the perfect project. 

When Julia’s mother suggests raising silkworms, Patrick jumps at the idea and wants to get started right away, but Julia thinks it’s too Korean and wants to do something a little more American. 

When Patrick finally convinces Julia to do the project they find that raising silkworms is harder than they expected. 

Together can the witty twosome win 1st place at the state fair, or will Agent Song and Julia’s Korean heritage get in the way?

Have you ever thought that a girl in the 7th grade would turn out to be a secret agent over a project? 

Well, that’s the way with Julia.  Julia Song and her best friend in the world, Patrick, signed up to a club called WGGL (wiggle) which stands for Work, Grow, Give, Live. 

When they have to decide on a project, Julia’s mother suggests they do a project about silk worms.  Patrick thinks it is a great idea but Julia thinks it’s too Korean.  Every plan Julia tries, to secretly convince Patrick that raising silk worms is a bad idea, fails no matter what. 

Will Julia ever like the silk worms enough to raise them or will her secret plans get in the way?  To find out just read Project Mulberry by Linda Sue Park, a book of adventure.
