After reading, Anything But Typical, I came to the conclusion that there were some parts I liked, but other parts I didn’t. I thought the author did a good job with making this book seem like all of the characters were real, along with the plot. It’s really an accurate reflection of what some people encounter everyday with small triumphs, but also embarrassing mistakes. I thought writing the story through the eyes of the main character, an autistic boy, seemed to make the book more intriguing and believable. That was a job well done by Nora Raleigh Baskins. On the same note, there were some things I didn’t like about this book. I felt the author never did come to a proper conclusion. It never does exactly tell you what occurred in the plot at the end. Also, it was kind of hard for me to follow along because I didn’t care for the book’s style of writing. It seemed like I had to keep rereading certain parts of the book to understand some of the main points. That’s my personal opinion though. I’m sure there are plenty of people that would still enjoy this book. --Book Review by Tom P., Grade 6, Doniphan-Trumbull Public School Visit Nora Raleigh Baskins' website. |
